چکیده

An industrial sector uses more energy than any other end-use sectors and currently this sector is consuming about 37% of the world’s total delivered energy. Energy is consumed in the industrial sector by a diverse group of industries includingmanufacturing, agriculture, mining, and construction and for a wide range of activities, such as processing and assembly, space conditioning, and lighting. This paper presents a comprehensive literature review about industrial energy saving by management, technologies and policies. Latest literatures in terms of thesis (MS and PhD), journal articles, conference proceedings, web materials, reports, books, handbooks on industrial energy management, policies and energy savings strategies have been compiled. Energy saving by management including energy audit, training programs and housekeeping beside some energy management practices in the world has been reviewed. Energy saving technologies, such as use of high efficiency motors (HEMs), variable speed drives (VSDs), economizers, leak prevention and reducing pressure drop has been reviewed. Based on energy saving technologies results, it has been found that in the industrial sectors, a sizeable amount of electric energy, emissions and utility bill can be saved using these technologies. Payback periods for different energy savings measures have been identified and found to be economically viable in most cases. Finally, various energy-saving policies for few selected countries were reviewed. 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Industrial Growth and Sustainable Development in Iran

This study aims to measure how much the industrial sector suppresses the development process to be sustainable in Iran. We employ a quadratic-log form of regression model to test the Industrial Environmental Kuznets Hypothesis. In addition, we use a Vector Auto-Regressive model to estimate the nexus among the industrial growth, income inequality, environmental pollution, and energy consumption ...

Economic evaluation of strategies for energy consuming optimization with Fuzzy logic (The case study on Atisaz, Tehran)

One of the important energy consuming sectors of the country is buildings. In this research, we use the energy audit of the Atisaz complex in Tehran to evaluate the economic benefits of energy saving measures.  We evaluate measures such as: using the automatic damper, replacing the active existing chiller with the solar absorption one, using intelligent boiler-room and replacing the existing li...

A review on recent applications of brushless DC electric machines and their potential in energy saving

Electric motors are the largest consumer of world electric energy, consuming more than twice as much as lighting, the next largest consumer. Electric motors account for between 43 and 46% of all global electricity consumption approximately. They give rise to about 6 040 Mt of CO2 emissions. End‐users approximately spend USD 565 billion per year on electricity [1]. In recent years...
